Ratan Tata, known for his philanthropic nature and compassionate leadership, left behind an extraordinary legacy not just in business but in kindness. Reports reveal that the late industrialist, who passed away in October 2024, allocated nearly ₹3.5 crore from his estate to his domestic staff and office workers, including car cleaners, peons, and part-time helpers. He also waived off loans taken by his employees and even a neighbor, showcasing his lifelong commitment to those who served him.

Ratan Tata, A Leader Who Took Care of His People

Tata’s will directed the executors to distribute ₹15 lakh among his domestic servants who had been with him for over seven years. The amount was divided in proportion to their years of service. Additionally, part-time helpers and car cleaners received ₹1 lakh each as a token of gratitude.

  • Rajan Shaw (Cook) – Just over ₹1 crore, including a ₹51-lakh loan waiver
  • Subbaiah Konar (Butler) – ₹66 lakh, including a ₹36-lakh loan waiver
  • Delnaz Gilder (Secretary) – ₹10 lakh
  • Raju Leon (Driver) – ₹1.5 lakh, along with an ₹18-lakh loan waiver
  • Hoshi D Malesara (Tata Trusts Consultant) – ₹5 lakh
  • Devendar Katamollu (Alibaug Bungalow Caretaker) – ₹2 lakh
  • Deepti Divakaran (Personal Assistant) – ₹1.5 lakh
  • Gopal Singh (Peon) – ₹50,000
  • Pandurang Gurav (Peon) – ₹50,000
  • Sarfaraz Deshmukh (Helper) – ₹2-lakh loan waiver
